Dimensions and Tolerances

Variables related to the dimensions and tolerances are to be construed only as a general guide line for determining achievable results.

A hole diameter can approach material thickness in thinner materials; however, a hole diameter can never be smaller than material thickness unless reamed in a secondary operation.

The smallest inside corner radius is directly proportional to the thickness of the metal.

Outside radii are considered to be at least .66 metal thickness. If requirements are necessary for a radius smaller than material thickness, certain conditions are achievable.

A tolerance of +/-15% of metal thickness is generally acceptable. On certain applications, tolerance of +/-10% of material thickness is achievable.

Other conditions including type of metal, depth of etchdown, yield in relation to prototype, short run, and production runs affect the acceptable tolerances.
